This place is filled with a wealth of historical value.
According to literature records, this place was originally located on a hill along the seashore.
In about 1279, after the Song Dynasty was overthrown by the Mongolian army.
In order to commemorate the two emperors of Song Dynasty that was once taken refuge in this place, local residents inscribed some words on a huge rock of here.

Until 1941, during the Second World War, this huge rock was burst by the armies.
Luckily, the words on the rock remained intact by chance.

Then, in about 1945, the Hong Kong Government built a garden to preserve this historical heritage.
This garden is called "Sung Wong Toi Garden".
It called this name because "Sung Wong Toi" is exactly the words inscribed on the rock.
It literally means "Terrace of the Song emperors".

To reach this garden, exit off Whampoa MTR Station Exit D2.
